About the Course

This self-paced course will prepare you to run a strong inclusive classroom that successfully integrates children with special needs in mainstream programs. It will provide insight into the challenges for learners and how you can effectively support these students. For each disability, the course includes approaches for lesson planning, effective teaching, classroom management, assessment, strategies for outside the classroom, and assistive technology tools. After taking this course, you will be confident in your ability to effectively teach all students in an inclusive classroom.

Meet your Instructors

Your lead instructor is Mary Stephens, who graduated from MIT with BS and MS degrees and has over 15 years of teaching and curriculum development experience, from K-College. She has served as R&D Manager at Houghton Mifflin, Adjunct Faculty at UMass Boston, and CEO of PrepForward. She is assisted by a team of special education experts, who have taught in special education and inclusive classrooms, run programs for students with disabilities, developed assistive technology products, worked internationally in special education, and received and given specialized training in each of the disabilities covered in this course.
